It’s up for debate whether my favorite season in Charleston is fall or spring. I think I need another spring under my belt before I can decide, but fall gets major points because pumpkins and mums. All the pumpkins and mums, please. Our home’s exterior is unique in that our front steps are divided into three sections (something that trick-or-treaters always seem to notice and remark on as the approach!). One day, I’d love to have pumpkins, mums and lanterns all over the stairs. It would be SO pretty. But in the meantime, since we aren’t keen on spending hundreds of dollars on fall decor, we decorate the middle stairway.
Here is a post about our front door planters. For doormats, I layered a cute Hey There Pumpkin mat over this plaid one. This is just a relatively inexpensive way to add fall vibes as you welcome guests into your home!
We got some pretty flowers for the railing planters (or window boxes, whatever you want to call them!). I love when they drape over the front, so pretty. Add in some pumpkins (heirloom pumpkins are my favorite) and mums to the stairway and we are ready for fall! One thing I really love about Charleston is that this will all last for Thanksgiving. I usually keep the fall decor up until the first week of December and then I start switching out to Christmas! Do you keep fall stuff up for November or make the switch to holiday decor early?
