Savannah has been on our list of places to visit since we moved down to Charleston. So when my Grandparents told me they were going to be visiting my Uncle in Hilton Head we decided to take a last minute trip down to have lunch with them and then spend the night and following day in Savannah. It’s only a 2.5 hour drive and ended up being the perfect little getaway!
We got there at 3pm (after having lunch with my family in Hilton Head) and checked into The Eliza Thompson House which is in a great location right on Jones Street and Bull Street. Jones St. is known as the prettiest street in Savannah with gorgeous homes and a canopy of trees. After checking in we walked down Bull St. all the way to the river and grabbed a drink at the Bohemian Hotel’s rooftop which is right on the river. During our walk back to the hotel we popped into some cute shops and took pictures of the pretty parks along the way.
We got ready for dinner but had plenty of time before our 8pm reservation so we walked over to Forsyth Park which is so beautiful and then went to the Mansion on Forsyth Park for a drink. (I think I want to try this hotel next time we visit!). Dinner at The Olde Pink House was insanely delicious and afterward we walked back to our hotel and went to bed because we were exhausted!
The following morning we wandered around with coffees while looking for a breakfast spot which is always a bit tricky when it comes to needing gluten free options. The rest of the morning was spent walking into shops, taking pictures and roaming around some parks. We spent a good bit of time walking up and down Jones Street too and I took about a thousand pics, it’s so gorgeous!
For lunch we went to The Public Kitchen for burgers and afterward walked around some more before checking out of our hotel and heading home to Charleston. I was worried that one night wasn’t going to be long enough but I do feel like we got to see everything. Since it isn’t a far drive we’ll definitely go back at some point and probably stay for two nights which I think will be the perfect amount of time!
