Sometimes we just want to change things up in our homes. Whether it be moving items around on shelves, getting new throw pillows or rearranging the bedroom, I’m guilty of all three! Kitchens don’t normally have much furniture to play around with and so getting a fresh look can feel a bit overwhelming. We can’t just change out our countertops and paint the cabinets all the time (although that would be fun!). Here are some easy and affordable ways to bring a new vibe into your kitchen, without annoying your husband 😉
- Get a new utensil holder! Add a little color or pattern in your kitchen to liven things up. This is the one we have, along with the spoon rest and I love the pop of blue.
- Â Buy flowers. Or if you have ones in your yard you can cut, do that! I get flowers from Trader Joe’s about every other week. Usually 2-3 bouquets that I mix up for our foyer, the kitchen island and the breakfast nook table. I swear they make me feel better instantly!
- Get a new runner. When I told Mike I was going to get a runner for the kitchen he was very confused. He didn’t understand why we needed a rug in the kitchen. Well, it’s actually much more comfortable to stand on while cooking or washing dishes, but it also adds color and texture to the room. Think about it: except for some counter stools, most things in a kitchen are hard (flooring, counter tops, cabinets, appliances). So bringing in a runner adds some warmth and softens the space.
Shop my favorite runners:
- Switch out your cabinet hardware. This is something I wanted to do in our kitchen for almost a year before we pulled the trigger. I ended up finding these pulls and knobs at a very reasonable price and so we jumped on it. And, we did it ourselves! (If you don’t already know this, Mike and I are not very handy, so this was a big deal). Switching out your cabinet hardware will give your kitchen a big upgrade for a pretty affordable price. We have these pulls and these knobs.
